After countless centuries of lumbering through fields and chewing cud, the common cow has stepped out into the art world.
The cow, a pastoral fixture since ancient times and more recently the model for kitsch items from T-shirts to salt shakers, is the subject of a traveling art exhibit.
"The Cow in Photograph and Folktale," displaying 39 photographs of cows, bulls and heifers, has opened at the State Museum in Albany for the purpose of "exploring the richness of bovine culture."
