As some city Roman Catholics grapple with their future now that their two ethnic churches have been shut, another faction of Catholics, Ukrainians, is opening its arms.
"It's small, they've got only one mass a week, but they've embraced us before and are willing to accommodate us using their version of the mass," said Larry Porreca, a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, one of the two churches ordered closed on Ash Wednesday by the Albany Diocese.
