Dec. 20--La Salle University faces fines and other sanctions for violating a federal crime-reporting law in its handling of alleged sexual assaults by members of the men's basketball team in 2003 and 2004.
The case could affect other colleges and universities because the U.S. Department of Education has said La Salle should have alerted the campus of the assaults promptly because they involved acquaintances. Everyone involved was either a student or an employee of the university.
