U.S. PROSECUTOR OPENS WINDOW ON UTICA UNDERWORLD.(Local)

Offering a glimpse into the shadowy underworld of Utica, a federal prosecutor said Monday that targets of an FBI investigation chatted about their desire to kill judges, FBI agents and "rats" who aided a grand jury probe into mob rub-outs, extortion and gambling.
Utica's gangland activity is "just as vicious and violent as anything that happens in New York City," Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin McCormack said in arguing that no bail be set for three suspected organized-crime figures arrested in Utica Wednesday by the FBI.
