While growing up on a Sun Prairie farm, Nancy Klein Maguire probably didn't imagine that her future would include infiltrating an ancient hermit monastery in the French Alps and spending years learning its secrets.

But that's exactly what happened, and the result is her new book, "An Infinity of Little Hours: Five Young Men and Their Trial of Faith in the Western World's Most Austere Monastic Order" (Public Affairs Books, $26).
