Dec. 18--Aviva Crane was part of a group of actors who in 1968 decided Chicago theater needed its own version of the Tony Awards and so started the Joseph Jefferson Awards. Mrs. Crane, 76, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, in her Lake Shore Drive home several months after suffering burns when her cigarette ignited her robe, said her son Richard.
