RUSS RENTLER Scarecrow's Lament Russ Rentler
Twenty-eight years ago, Russ Rentler was once a musical cohort of Richard Shindell and John Gorka. This onetime association manifests in Rentler's witty lyrics and ability with language. Rentler opens this CD with "Prairie Dog Exodus," an ecological parable with a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor. He follows with the title song about real consequences by today's standards if Dorothy from the Wizard Of Oz had eloped with the Scarecrow. He also captures "That New Car Smell" in song, except his car is more of a rolling landfill. ...
