Jazz drummer Oliver Jackson, who played with such jazz greats as Lionel Hampton, Kenny Burrell and Benny Goodman, died recently of heart failure at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.

Mr.Jackson, who grew up in Detroit, joined up with drummer Eddie Locke in 1949 and they worked together under the name of Bop and Locke until 1953. He joined prominent jazz saxophonist Yusef Lateef in 1953.
