Long-Term Orbit or "extended ephemeris" technology delivers assistance data to assisted GPS (AGPS) devices without requiring wireless connectivity to an AGPS server. Valid for a span of days, LTO data can be obtained through Internet docking, reducing connectivity requirements. A conventional AGPS device must connect to a server almost hourly to get refreshed assistance data.
