WASHINGTON _ After two years of careful cleaning and restoration, the 15th-century religious masterpiece, the ``Annunciation,'' by Flemish artist Jan van Eyck, has returned to public view inside the National Gallery of Art.
However, the journey to this latest restoration, which will be on view until Sept. 5, was neither short nor easy.
