DIPLOMATIC PROTECTION : COMMISSION SET TO PROPOSE COMMON OFFICES'.(Eureopean Commission policy on diplomatic and consular protection of citizens in third world countries)

The European Commission is set to adopt a Green Paper on diplomatic and consular protection for European Union citizens in third countries. As seen by Europolitics, the most important element in the document will be the idea of common offices'. "The creation of common offices would ensure the coherence of functions and economise on fixed costs for the diplomatic and consular network structures of the member states," notes the Commission in the Green Paper to be presented by Justice Commissioner Franco Frattini on 28 November.
