BAYOU STEEL CORPORATION RESPONSE TO DEQ ALLEGATIONS

    LAPLACE, La., June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Bayou Steel Corporation (AMEX: BYX) is aware that the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is requesting assistance from Region 6 of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to investigate "numerous allegations of environmental violations at Bayou Steel in LaPlace." Bayou Steel believes that these allegations are a direct result of an ongoing labor dispute at the facility.
