Nov. 16--St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman lashed out Wednesday at a new police union radio ad that says the city is more dangerous than Los Angeles, calling the commercial an "absolutely outlandish" scare tactic.

"This ad is misleading, wildly inappropriate and a disservice to the St. Paul Police Department and the city that we love," Coleman said.

City Council members Lee Helgen, Kathy Lantry and Dave Thune joined Coleman during a news conference in the mayor's office. They also condemned the radio spot, which began airing Wednesday.
