Newly-elected Pres. Fawzi al-sultan of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) believes that the organization will solve the funding problems being experienced by agricultural countries. IFAD was created in 1977 to provide funding to farm projects in the third world countries. However, its existence was threatened when the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countiries reduced its support to the organization. The support pledged by other countries fail to solve IFAD's problems. Its executive members are searching for ways to assure IFAD's existence in the future.
