The author of the heretical theological treatise, 'De Doctrina Christiana,' is undoubtedly John Milton, contrary to William B. Hunter's belief expressed in his treatise, 'The Provenance of the Christian Doctrine.' Furthermore, Hunter suggests that the Dutchman Isaac Vossius may have been the author. Historical research shows that the manuscript passed through several people and could not be printed because of controversial religious content.
