Medieval Appearances Notwithstanding, Bruges Looks Ahead to the 21st Century

THE TWO THINGS I LIKE MOST about Bruges are: first, it's not going to change. Each time I go back those wonderful stone and carved brick houses, the arched bridges, the ancient tree-lined canals will all still be there looking much the same as they did 700 years ago. This is because the city fathers keep an eye on how all the old buildings are maintained and underwrite restorations.
