NEW Brighton's lifeboat crew performed one of their most unusual rescues to date when they used a hovercraft to bring another hovercraft to shore yesterday.
Two surveyors raised the alarm using a mobile phone after their private hovercraft broke down on the Mersey and drifted across to Eastham, at around 10.30am.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institute launched a rescue hovercraft from the New Brighton station, just as the tide was beginning to go out.
