Nov. 1--The Nebraska State Patrol received a new rescue phone today that puts state-of-the-art technology in the hands of hostage negotiators.
The $5,600 phone replaces an outdated "throw phone" built by the State Patrol nearly 25 years ago. The State Patrol said the phone was donated to its northeast Nebraska district. Throw phones are designed so negotiators can toss them to hostage-takers and establish a line of communication. W...
