In the July 2006 issue of PCI, "Next-Generation Antimicrobial Additives for Reactive Surface Coatings," the theoretical background for the use of antimicrobial peptides in coatings was discussed. Biocides for protective, decorative or functional coatings are typically divided into three main categories, in-can stabilizers, post-application films or substrate preservers.
