IT must be said from the start that the possibilities of exploring new perspectives and fresh approaches after the Supreme Court rebuffed the people's initiative have been blurred by the leakage of what many suspect to be heinous political intrigues.

Others may resist the description but political intrigues are often detected by their ominous undertones.

I am referring to the account that President Gloria Arroyo herself contrived the people's initiative fiasco in the High Court.
