Fifty works of French artist Carl Faberge were displayed in the Kremlin on Jun 1993. More than 200,000 Russians went to the exhibit and were awed by Faberge's craftsmanship while at the same time overwhelmed that Russia possessed such art treasures. Faberge's works, along with those of prominent Russian artists, were hidden during the period when the country was still strictly Communist. Many observed that even when the materials Faberge used were not precious, their perfection stands out and captivates the observer.
