Offshore: At what stage do you become involved in a new project?

GO: "For a project such as Wild Oats XI or Alfa Romeo, consultation with Olectric began at the line drawing stage so the boat is designed with the systems in mind. Do you want a canting, retractable or fixed keel? Propulsion to stay outside the hull or to retract so the hull is flush?

"To monitor and control these systems a PLC (programmable logic controller) is required, and every PLC is designed from the bottom up for that specific boat. None are the same, not even close, and these are not laptops ...
