Oct. 29--RAYMONDVILLE -- Slamming on the van's brakes, Roy Rodriguez alerted passengers to a Texas tortoise he spotted hiding near a fence and grass.
Amazed with his observational skills, passenger Susan Herrlich peeked out the window to look at the animal.
"How can you drive and see that?" the Corpus Christi resident asked.
Herrlich and seven other passengers joined Rodriguez, a nature interpreter from Pharr, for a tour of the Hunke Ranch and the wildlife that lives around the 3,780-acre area as part of the Wild in Willacy Boot Festival. ...
