About 7 percent of voters see colors beyond blue, red: Some shun Republican or Democrat party labels, but what is a Smuck anyway?

Oct. 29--In a Republican/Democrat world, it's lonely to be a Smuck. Or a Bull Moose. Or an American Eagle. Roughly 7 percent of Luzerne County's 165,772 active voters are not Democrats or Republicans.
They have chosen 48 other groups, from established third parties to entities that appear to be made up. Voters may list any political party they want on the "other" line of the voter registration form, and the county must accept it, said Luzerne County Election Bureau Director Leonard Piazza.
