Georgia desperately needs NATO membership.

Oct. 29--Georgia is on my mind.
And it is not about a woman, as it is in the official song of the U.S. state of Georgia.
Instead, it is about a tiny and increasingly independent former Soviet republic. Georgia is a Christian country of 4.6 million. It is smaller than South Carolina and located south of Russia, north of Turkey and Iran, and west of the oil-rich Caspian Sea.
Georgia is on the brink of war with Russia, a war that can cost the United States an important ally -- Georgia.
