The state Department of Environmental Quality has agreed to reconsider a wastewater discharge permit it granted in July that allows the Georgia-Pacific pulp and paper mill in Toledo to dump its treated wastewater into Yaquina Bay at Newport.
The review was sought by a coalition of environmental groups, including the Northwest Environmental Defense Center, the Surfrider Foundation, the Oregon Shores Coalition, Friends of Yaquina Bay and Lincoln County Citizens for Clean Water.
