CHICAGO _ Dining delicacy and environmental disaster, the lamprey is also a survivor that was attaching itself to unlucky fish as long as 360 million years ago, scientists reported Wednesday.

A University of Chicago paleontologist and a South African colleague said they had uncovered a "remarkably well-preserved" fossil lamprey from the Devonian period that reveals today's lampreys to be "living fossils" that evolution hasn't changed much in eons.
