Structure: the intellectual's metaphor.

The structuralist movement gained wide popularity in the 1960s. In an attempt to unify knowledge, philosophers such as Jean Piaget promoted structuralism. However, as more people became structuralists, the philosophy became more subjected to criticisms. It soon became clear that the structuralist movement will not apply to certain cultures. It did not fulfill certain expectations and was found to be culture-bound. However, a redefinition and reexamination of the philosophy can make it popular once more.
