Political scientist Hannah Arendt is often viewed as an opponent of democracy because of her frequent criticism of liberal democracy and defense of political elites in her work, 'On Revolution.' However, a closer examination of Arendt's work will show that she actually advocated a new form of grass-roots democracy and that her conception of a politiac elite is decidedly democratic in character.
