PUBLIC dismay over the Food & Drug Administrations handling of several human drug safety issues--such as the Vioxx debacle--prompted a major report criticizing the nation's drug regulatory agency.
That report, issued Sept. 22 by the National Academy of Sciences' Institute of Medicine (IOM), includes issues that could spill over to how FDA oversees the animal drug industry.
