Children with congenital HIV infection are surviving in increasing numbers to reach school age. In the school setting they also join others who have acquired HIV infection, including a significant number of youth now in their teen years. The Maternal and Child Health Bureau, U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, requested a review of the circumstances and needs of these children, as well as the challenges experienced by educators and administrators.
