Oct. 3--Heavy downpours Thursday that tracked along Route 222 through Berks County fueled some high September rainfall totals.

Reading Regional Airport, which is near Route 222 in Bern Township, recorded 3.20 inches Thursday, pushing the monthly total to 7.44 inches.

The automated equipment at the airport is the official measuring station in the Reading area.
