The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service's Veterinary Services Branch oversees a Texas cattle dipping program designed to eliminate cattle-fever ticks from cattle entering the US from Mexico. Agricultural Research Service (ARS) employees help to control contamination problems in the concrete vats in which cattle are dipped. ARS researchers are also attempting to develop control methods for pesticide-resistant Mexican ticks.
