District seeks funds for character development.

Sep. 20--Austin is seeking a state grant to add a character development program for all students in district schools.

The district already has programs that focus on students behavior and attitude, but none provide common language and vision for students or teachers, according to district staff.

"It will give us a fluid program for K-12," said grant writer Jean McDermott. "It's designed to meet the needs of the different stages of their lives as they go from K-12."

The district is seeking $144,000 from the Minnesota Department of Education ...
