James Barrow, the sole member of Barrow Hanley Mewhinney & Strauss Inc.'s founding quartet still at the Dallas-based firm, will relinquish the role of lead portfolio manager in four years.

"Giving up client and portfolio management responsibilities opens up opportunities for younger people who have been at the firm for a while,'' said Mr. Barrow, 66, who manages large-cap- and mid-cap-value equities at the $60 billion firm.
