The Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati is opening its 2006-2007 season Wednesday with a pared down, but still defined, version of "Mack and Mabel."
But its star, Gary Sandy, who is playing the driven, workaholic director Mack Sennett, says don't call the ETC's concertized approach to the musical a rip-off.
It's not copycatting the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's hit-a reduction of "Company" presented at the Mount Adams theater last season.
