French telecom operator Iliad tapped Draka Comteq to supply a state-of- the-art fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network in Paris in the first piece of a $1.27 billion, six-year project.
Earlier this year, Iliad said it had no fiber plans until around 2008, but it looks to have reversed itself in very short order to counter larger rival France Telecom's fiber trials in Paris.
The initial Paris project, which is expected to take two years to complete, will make FTTH broadband available to some 2.1 million people living in the area, with the initial deployment ...
