A large percentage of teenagers across the world are exposed to secondhand smoke at home and in public, survey results released in July found.

The Global Youth Tobacco Survey, an initiative of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization, looked at the prevalence of secondhand smoke in 132 WHO regions between 1999 and 2005 and found that more than half of the 13- to 15-year-old students surveyed--56 percent--were exposed to secondhand smoke in public places.
