The Delaware Supreme Court ruled in July that the American Legacy Foundation's smoking prevention campaign does not violate the 1998 multistate tobacco settlement.

The Lorillard Tobacco Company notified the American Legacy Foundation in 2002 that it would file suit based on claims that the "truth" smoking prevention campaign violated the tobacco settlement by vilifying and personally attacking tobacco companies rather than educating about tobacco products.
