Adult education body pushes for service code.(News)

TEACHERS in the adult education sector have called on the Education Department to move fast in formalising the conditions of service of teachers in the sector, if the country's goal to reduce illiteracy was to be achieved.

This emerged at the Adult Learning Network conference for teachers, pupils and managers in adult education held in Durban yesterday. The teachers said that, unlike their colleagues at schools, adult education teachers had no benefits and often had their salaries delayed because of poor administration.
