DALLAS - James Barrow, the last member of Barrow, Hanley Mewhinney & Strauss Inc.'s founding quartet still at the firm, will relinquish the role of lead portfolio manager in four years.

"Giving up client and portfolio management responsibilities opens up opportunities for younger people who have been at the firm for a while,'' said Mr. Barrow, 66, who manages large-cap and midcap value equities at the $60 billion firm.

Barrow, Hanley opened in 1979.
