EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. _ As the clock hit 6 a.m. Friday, Roger Goodell was riding a stationary bike, oblivious to the fact that, at that exact moment, he officially became the new commissioner of the National Football League.

Six days later, Goodell hasn't stopped moving long enough even to settle into Paul Tagliabue's old office. There is simply too much work to do, dealing with issues regarding drug-testing and revenue-sharing, global growth and local expansion, technology and the intricacies of the game itself.
