There is no possible way that Tony Blair could fall on his sword in the same manner that Tory leaders Michael Howard, William Hague and John Major did.
All three men - for all their qualities - were losers.
Blair on the other hand, has achieved for the Labour Party, when taking into account its current history, the equivalent of three league and cup doubles in a row.
