Sep. 5--It may be a different month, but the first Monday in September often is like the Fourth of July in Pen Argyl. That's because the Lookout Fire Company No. 1's annual Labor Day parade has a patriotic look and feel that would rival any Independence Day celebration.

Monday's 71st annual parade boasted 50 fire and ambulance companies from seven counties. Leading the 21/2-hour procession for the first time was the Bangor Exchange Club, whose members distributed 2,000 small American flags to children under 12. ...
