Puckette produces her paintings by etching a pattern with a razor blade on a dark canvas. The technique is time consuming and requires a great deal of technical skill. Many of the paintings evoke the playfulness of childhood, but a deeper element is sometimes missing.
In her first solo show, Elliott Puckette paints a filigree world of undulating curlicues and corkscrewing, tendril-like lines that dance across her uninflected black grounds like fireflies swimming in inky darknes...
