August's email postbag crackled with press releases to the effect that wine this, that and t'other had "scooped" a "prestigious" medal of some sort. In come cases it was a gold at the International Wine and Spirit Competition, in others a silver at the Decanter World Wine Awards, a bronze at the Belgium Concours Mondiales or perhaps a Seal of Approval at the International Wine Challenge.
