After his daughter, Elsina, was born in November, David Treuer quickly crafted a cradleboard for her. For the backing, he bought a cedar plank at Home Depot. Then, in his Minneapolis back yard, he steamed and molded ash strips for the footrest and crash-bar, using PVC pipes, an empty gas can and a turkey fryer.
