Aug. 29--The fate of a controversial Santa Clara County concert hall will be decided at a public meeting today, amid intensified last-minute politicking and new financial reports that could doom the project, already seven years in the works. So far, only county Supervisor Jim Beall formally opposes using $15 million from the general fund to build a concert hall at the fairgrounds site. But four of the five supervisors must approve the funds before construction can begin on the project which was designed to be virtually cost-free to taxpayers.
