Told I could own only one plant, what would it be? I would definitely choose a box topiary ball. For, of all the plants I select for my designs, the topiary ball is the most used - it sits comfortably in a cottage garden, it can be the structural focal point of a minimalist scheme or act as a welcoming sentinel outside a front door.

I admit to being a control freak and think you need a controlling personality to appreciate topiary - but that doesn't mean your topiary has to be formal or symmetrical.
