A group of dissatisfied Macintosh owners has formed an organization called Worldwide Owners of Ripoff Macs (WORM) to express their frustration with having spent thousands on Macintosh models that became obsolete within a few months after their release. The key example WORM cites is the Mac IIvx, which appeared a good buy at $3,500 in late 1992 but was soon replaced by the faster Centris line. WORM founder Eric Martin created a conference on America Online and posted a 'manifesto' claiming that he and other 'loyal Mac users' felt abused by Apple's product policies.
